Toy Toyota - Fingerprint project
Objective: Create an advertisement using real world materials to be photographed, minimal editing allowed.
My approach: I decided to go with a toy, toyota truck playing off of the pun in the brand name, while also creating an uncanny feeling ad. It depicts a real world scenario showing the scale of the toys. The Toyota Tacoma is a vehicle often utilized by the target audience to go off-roading and otherwise lead an actively outdoors lifestyle. This “play” further implies the Toyota concept.
I went out an purchased a hot wheels Tacoma, wood letters, and a premade plastic mountain from a hobby store, as well as trees. Drilled holes for the trees, covered the wood in vinyl as close to Toyotas red as I could, and printed a sky background. In hindsight, one thing I would liked to have done would be use a blue construction paper background with cottonballs for clouds.
I mocked the scene up and had photographer Michael J. Burch take photos with a low depth of field to emphasize the size.
In photoshop, I corrected the red lettering, and added the text, and made my Toy Toyota Ad. I referenced Toyotas brand guidelines to adhere to.
(This was not an official Toyota Project, this was a class project done in college)
